Can Airbnb income help you qualify?

A family walking outside the radius office
The short version: often, yes. Many DSCR programs count short-term rental income.

How lenders count it

  • Already renting it? Lenders may use your booking history, often the last 12 months.
  • Buying a new one? Lenders may use market data for similar rentals in the area.

Think full year, not peak summer

A Cape cottage, a lake house in New Hampshire or a place on the Maine coast can book solid in July and sit empty in February. Lenders look at the whole year, so you should too.

Before you buy

  • Check the town’s short-term rental rules and permits.
  • Budget for cleaning, management and furnishings.
  • Keep some savings for the slow months.
